The fit is not clear from the design but I was very pleased by the thinking that must have guided it. The area around the crouch and thighs is baggy and narrows dramatically down to the ankle, making these great for tucking into a pair of rainboots or nagagutsu. However the ankle-calf area is also outfitted with zipper so you can loosen them up to about the same width as the rest of the pant leg. In either state it looks perfect. big fan!
